Today I am featuring the new stamp set Life is Sweet with two special techniques: Coloring on Kraft and inlaid die cutting.
Joy Clair creates the most beautiful fruit sets! I love how they look, because they make me want to improve my coloring skills! 🙂
Technique 1: Coloring on Kraft cardstock
For my card, I started by stamping the fruit images from the stamp set Life is Sweet onto Crumb Cake or Kraft cardstock with Whisper White Craft Ink and coloring them in with Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. It is a simple process. I picked the fruits from the Life is Sweet stamp set for my card. I went with these images because of its size and the amount of open space. Whenever I do pencil coloring I make sure that the images bring me the possibility to color and do some color blending.
I did very simple coloring with minimal layering and blending. You don’t need to go crazy here and do a ton of blending because these images already has gorgeous details. I picked out the pencils that mimicked my selected color scheme and I swatched them on the back of my paper in order to see what the colors would look like. Ideally, it’s bets to have a color chart on the same kind of paper you plan to color on.
Technique 2: Inlaid die cut
Once my coloring was done I die cut with a stitched rectangle frame die the center of the card to obtain three different pieces. I pasted the large piece directly onto a regular card base of Poppy Parade cardstock and added the second frame (real frame) using dimensionals. Then I pasted the small piece on the center, directly over the card base. As final touch, I added some drops of Nuvo Morning Dew.

Oh what fun! Love how vibrant the colored pencil is on the Kraft card stock. The frame makes for an excellent design.
