Acrylic Block Technique
Hi there! Today I am up with the first Beginner Lesson from Imagine. It is a new idea that design team is working. The idea is share a complete tutorial with simple and beautiful ideas each month. July is the first month and today I am sharing the Acrylic Block Technique. This is an easy way to create colorful backgrounds with a watercolor effect to your projects. Just can make this technique using pigment or dye inks and acrylic blocks with different sizes and shapes.
To create this card I am using the stamp set Martha’s Flowers from Joy Clair. It is one of my favorites sets and of course it is the perfect opportunity to use it.
TUTORIAL GUIDE:
Select the size and shape of the acrylic block that you want to use to create the background.
Apply the ink directly over the acrylic block directly with the ink pad.
If you want you can mix colors or use a single color. In my project I used two different colors, Memento Dandelion and Tangelo.
Spray your inked block with water. The intensity of color depends of the amount of water that you apply. Less water more color, more water less color.
Turn your block around and stamp the color directly over your cardstock or watercolor paper. Press the block with your hands to transfer the color. Let the cardstock dry naturally or speed the process with a heat tool. This technique can be used on both types of cardstock.
Stamp your main image over the colorful background using a neutral color of ink to create a contrast.
If it is necessary resize your decorated layer and paste it over the card base using double sided tape.
