Embossing Technique Always in Style
Hello crafty friends, today I have an Embossing Technique Always in Style! Yes, this is one of the most simple embossing techniques that you can upgrade to make your cards more attractive.
A few days ago, I shared with you that I create decorative pieces or layers for my cards in advance. It is one form to optimize my time. On this opportunity, I do the same. I printed different images from my Digital Stamps from Joy Clair Designs. The process is really simple because I just needed to resize the stamps directly over my digital canvas to create the look.
Work with Digital stamps open your mind to have new designs and styles. For example in my today’s card, I combined two flowers with the same design. I just changed the size of one and created my own look. The digital stamps that I used were Always in Style Digital Stamps. Take a look of the set and compare it with the look of my card.
TIP: Create different cards at the same time and make only one print.
Does not matter the computer program that you use to work with digital stamps. You can made four card fronts or four different designs in a letter sheet. I always took images from different digital stamps and print them in a single layer. Then, I cut in A2 size and colored the images in my own time. To work with digital stamps, I used White Smooth Cardstock. This cardstock works with my ink jet printer and it’s marker friendly too.
I colored the flowers from the Always in Style Digital Stamps with TriBlend Markers from Spectrum Noir. The colors of TriBlend markers that I used were Citrus Green Blend, Coral Blend and Magenta Blend.
EMBOSSING TECHNIQUE
Back to the embossing technique, this is the basic dry embossing. The difference is the color and the distress. The most difficult step is selecting the design of your embossing folder if you are addict to them like me.
After emboss your piece of cardstock, take the ink pad with the color that you wanted to use. For me on this Always in Style card, the light colors work wonderful. the yellow brings light to the flowers. I used Fossilized Ambar Distress Oxide Ink. Continue applying the ink directly with the ink pad or with a blending tool. It is a soft process and you can cover the layer totally or partially. Let the ink dry naturally or with a heat tool. Don’t continue with the next step if your cardstock is not dry. I also used White Smooth Cardstock to emboss my layers…. Well I use White Smooth Cardstock almost for all (card bases, layer, embossing, die cutting, ink stamping, coloring, etc.)
With a sand block you can create the distress. Just pass it over the inked area and take the color off. You can decide how distressed do you want the layer if you made it softy.
Resize your layers and create your card. I pasted mine with 3D Foam squares and E-Z Runner Permanent Strips, my favorite adhesives from Scrapbook Adhesives.
After coloring the flowers, I fussy cut them with scissors and pick up a sentiment from the digital stamp set Refresh the Soul. You can see another of my cards created with the Refresh the Soul Digital Stamps HERE. The digital stamps that I am using today are part of the Springish Fiesta Collection, recently released. Voila, my embossing technique always in style bring me the perfect look for today’s card.
