PLAID TECHNIQUE USING SINGLE STAMPS
Creating my own patterns is one of my passions and plaid technique can look very different with just changing the colors and designs of the single stamps. Today I will show how to make this with Kaleidacolor Ink and lineal stamps. Take a look at how to make this easily and quickly:
- Cut a layer of card stock in a neutral color and mark with pencil a distance from the up and down borders. The size of my layer is 4-1/4″x5-1/2″, I choose Very Vanilla card stock and marked in both sides at 3/4″.
- If you are using clear stamps you can take one of the lineal stamps from your stamp set and align this with the border of the ruler, then paste over the acrylic block to guarantee that your lines will be always straight.
- Ink the stamp with any Kaleidacolor ink touching the pad with the stamp, don’t rub the stamp just touching with the pad.
- Stamp your first line starting just up where you mark the point on the left side to cross to down of the point of the right side.
- Continue stamping the other designs included on the stamp set or the same image if you want to use only one stamp above and below from the first line stamped. For this project I used the stamp set It’s Plaid Time by Peek-a-boo Designs. At this time you have two options, the first is to make only lines in one direction or create a double effect if you repeat the process by the other way of the paper. In my sample I repeated the process and created the pattern that you say on the third photo above.
- To complete the card I stamped one of the image of a dog included on the stamp set Puppy Dog by Joy Clair in a piece of Very Vanilla card stock using VersaFine Onix and Clear Embossing Powder that I melted with my heat tool.
- I colored the dog using the same colors of the Kaleidacolor Ink that I used for my background the Kaleidacolor Tomato Vine and to apply the color I used one Fantastix. Then I fussy cut the image with my scissors.
- To finalize the card I stamped the sentiment with VersaFine Onix and cut a rectangular stitched frame with a Gina Marie Die Cuts.
I created the card base using Very Vanilla card stock and resized the stamped background to paste all the details and create my composition.
Easy and beautiful, don’t you think?
