Techniques are my passion and Imagine has the best products to develop techniques. On today’s project I am using the Mother Pearl Technique. The secret: All-purpose Ink in Frost White color. Come with me and see how easy it is to create this effect in your background or stamped images. Take a look at my card:

MOTHER PEARL TECHNIQUE - MOTHER'S DAY CARD

Take a piece of regular card stock and sponge it with two or three tones of Memento Ink . I selected two tones Lulu Lavender and Lilac Posies. I started with the light colors and then enhanced the tone with the darker. Our challenge this month is Magenta so until now colors are perfect! You can apply the ink with sponges or big daubers. I love to use big daubers.

Put a few drops of All-Purpose Ink Frost White over your mat and apply this ink over your inked background using plastic wrap paper and let the ink dry for a few minutes. After this you will note the pearl  effect over the paper.

To decorate the card I sprayed a piece of whisper white with four different colors of Fireworks, Lilac Posies, Cantaloupe, Dandelion and Bahama Blue. Then I stamped some flowers over this paper using Versamark and White Embossing Powder. After melting the powder I fussy cut the flowers with my scissors and using a tiny paint brush and Firework Lilac Posies I enhanced some details of the flowers.

At this time the mother pearl background should be totally dry and you can assemble over your card base. I also added a decorated tag border to work as a frame for my sentiment. I pasted all with Tear It! Tape and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Imperial Purple to keep the color line. Finally I added the flowers using dimensionals  or double sided foam tape and to have a little contrast I added tiny leaves behind the flowers and some transparent sequins using  On Point Glue.

Easy and fun, don’t you think?

TIP:  If you want to keep the shimmer on your project  when you use the All-purpose Frost White color, you can color your images with Fireworks. These coordinate perfectly with the colors and have the sparkle effect.
